The tree and the moon

Strange sensations go through me tonight,
sprung from fragments of a thousand thoughts
that guide my hands
on an expanse of peaceful color.
Colors become words in my mind
and a word falls from my mouth before being uttered
and overlooks the abyss of my imperfection.
But I'm not afraid of the abyss,
held strong by the roots of my awareness
and my dreams.
From the clouds of my many memories the new moon appears.
I recognize it and am enchanted to look at it,
it is the moon of a new tomorrow.
Strange sensations go through me tonight
and in the thick foliage of my thoughts,
branches of words intertwine
and clusters of new smiles bloom.
To my wife, the new moon of all my tomorrow.
